The cliffs at Cape d'Or with the lighthouse on the headland

Lighthouse, dory rips and copper mines

Cape d'Or and Advocate Harbour Boat Tour

  • Duration 2 hours
  • Group size 4–8
  • Difficulty easy
  • Season May to October

Run the cliffs below the Cape d'Or lighthouse, watch for the famous Dory Rips offshore, and pass the air shafts and adits left behind by 19th-century copper mining at Horseshoe Cove.

Experience the Bay of Fundy like never before. Feel the rush of the tides as you take in incredible views of Cape d’Or, a Bay of Fundy landmark and home to a historic lighthouse.

The sheer cliffs of Cape d’Or are 300 feet high and preserve lava flows that erupted over 200 million years ago. The views paired with the iconic lighthouse and the quaint fishing port of Advocate Harbour give you a taste of life on the water. Along the way, we pass ancient air shafts and mine adits — the only features remaining of the 19th-century copper mines at Horseshoe Cove.

If the tides align, you will see the famous “Dory Rips” off Cape d’Or. On the way back, you get a full tour of Spencers Island from the water, a significant geosite within the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark.
