Bay of Fundy tide times

Fourteen days of high and low water for Spencers Island, straight from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. The biggest swing in the next two weeks is 11.4 metres.

Heights are metres above chart datum. Times are Atlantic time. Our fat bike ride crosses the sea floor around low water, which is why its start time moves every day.

Why it matters here

Forty feet of water, twice a day

The Bay of Fundy moves more water on every tide than all the world's freshwater rivers combined. At Spencers Island that means the shoreline you walk at low water is under ten metres of ocean six hours later.

It is why the fat bike tour rides on the sea floor for only a few hours a day — and why a tour operator here cannot simply publish a 9 AM start and leave it at that.
